Working on creating a place for discussion of this project
I am planning on developing this page for everyone interested
in this project to be able to note the progress and also add
ideas and work accomplished.
Thanks for your patience as I learn Twiki!
Yo, this is Charles Shapiro. A lot of discussion has been taking place on the
email list re the
Linux Terminal Server Project.
So far there's been more heat than light.

At Emory Law School we just deployed three
K12LTSP powered thin clients to use as email terminals. We've ordered three more terminals to use as additional email stations. The terminals are $279 new from
http://www.disklessworkstations.com. Anyway, we're very pleased with them. If anyone wants to discuss them, please email me.

James Kinney, CEO of
Local Net Solutions has been working with 2 other ALErs, Jeff Hubbs and Aaron Ruschetta to complete a 2200 thin client, 33 server installation of
K12LTSP for 7 pilot schools in Atlanta Public Schools. From a technical standpoint, the project has been surprisingly smooth. There have been some "gotcha's" related to application use - many educational sites are mostly brain dead and use horrid things like IE with Active-X turned on.
The most important aspect has been the feedback from the teachers. They LOVE it. One principal was overheard remarking that "the Linux thin clients make up for all the other stuff done previously".
