This is Charles Shapiro reporting from the October 30 2004 Install Fest here at Emory's School of Law library. There are currently 13 Happy L9UX HAX04 D00Ds here plugging things in, talkin' trash, manipulating keyboards, and generally doing the K001 Hacking Lifestyle.

And what's really thrilling for me, I'm doing this over my very own radio networking card, hooked in to a rogue WAP plugged into the Emory network!

Michael Hirsch is busily starting to whip up his music server, starting with a Dell Optiplex which currently has Lose installed on it. Sean Kilpatrick is trying to fix his forgotten password.

Life is good!

!!! Next InstallFest !!!

Oct 30 2004 on the 3rd floor of the Emory School of Law at the intersection of Clifton and North Decatur Road East of Atlanta

Bah! Why'd it have to be on the same day as Tech homecoming?

-- MichaelIvey - 15 Oct 2001

Oh well, even though it was on Tech's homecoming we had a pretty good turnout. I showed at about 09:15 and left around 13:00, after helping one guy with what looked like a resolv.conf problem and trying hard to soft-sell Linux to a stylish co-ed who wandered by. The pizza was good, the donuts were Above and Beyond. I felt a little guilty about not going by my local Internet Cafe (Maasty Internet Cafe, 2968 North Decatur Road #F, Decatur GA) and spreading the word. Last time I was in there talking 'bout Linux, it was deer-in-the-headlights time for the dude who ran the place. Next time I'll make real sure to at least print up some 8.5x11" papers about it and spread them around my neighborhood.

Howdy

I could use a little help with the names of the people in the pictures.
Thank you Charles for putting them up on the web so that I could learn my way around a Twiki smile

Hi!

Look at Oct2003InstallfestPhotos for the photos that my daughter Emily took from our most recent fest (and my first). It was great fun.
