> Does anyone know of any places that repair monitors?

Good timing: I just yesterday dropped off a 17" monitor with Paul of Advance Video Tech. He charges a flat rate of $50 for fixing 17" monitors. I don't know what his flat rate is for a 21" monitor--it may be the same or not--don't know.

It's basically a one-person operation. (So you get him on the phone, not a chain bored nontechnical people filling out rote paperwork.) So I brought my monitor in, he put it up on his repair bench and hooked it up to see the failure mode, and then it went into the queue of other monitors to be repaired. (He quoted me a 3-5 day turnaround time.)

I then got a call around noon today saying he had it fixed, and he offered to meet me off Jimmy Carter BLVD to pick it up if that were more convenient for me than coming to his office again. (He knew that that was closer to me than his office, so he offered to meet there since he was going to be in that area anyway.)

I've now got it hooked up again to my machine, and not even an hour later see your email asking about monitor repairs! smile

Anyway, I'd recommend him.

His office address is 2150 Bogs Road Suite 640, Duluth, GA. (A mile or so from Gwinnet Place Mall.) His cell is 678-361-4963. He shares an office/warehouse space with a couple other businesses, so it's kind of confusing dropping things off.

I found out about him by calling a company that used to be "Monitor Depot" here in town, and after finding that they don't do monitor repair anymore, asking for a recommendation from them--this was a guy who worked for them for a while before going off on his own.

BTW, I really, really liked the monitor I had/have, and so even though I could have gotten a used one for $50--same price as his original repair quote, I preferred having my own known-good, great-specs-as-I-researched-it-forever-before-buying-it-way-back-when monitor than a used one I wasn't as familiar with. (I still really like my iiyama 9017E)

However, he also sells used monitors, so if yours is unrepairable or something you might want to ask about that.

Anyway, I'd recommend the guy.
